ARTEMIS is an innovative, multidisciplinary collaboration centering on people with lived experience to improve the quality of and access to substance use disorder care in rural settings.

This 5-year project is a collaboration between the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in Baltimore, and the Center for Substance Use, Addiction & Health Research (CESAR) based in College Park.

We are shaping the future of research and care for polysubstance use through shared learning, collaboration, and innovation.

The ARTEMIS project brings together individuals with experience of polysubstance use, academics, community partners, clinicians, public health entities and more.

Our Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) of 15 rural individuals with experience of polysubstance use will serve as longitudinal advisors to advance research and care.

The Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) will provide guidance and support to the PAC. Together, we will conduct PAC-guided research to establish a research consultation model and create a discussion hub for sharing perspectives.
