The ARTEMIS project is led by two multiple principal investigators (MPIs), Drs. Sarah Kattakuzhy and Jessica Magidson, and five Co-Investigators (Co-Is) with a broad spectrum of expertise.
Together, Drs. Kattakuzhy and Magidson and their teams provide a unique pairing of resources and expertise in patient-centered research and dissemination. Furthermore, the multidisciplinary Co-I team spans nursing, medicine, anthropology, social work, and policy.
Dr. Sarah Kattakuzhy is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and Associate Director of the Kahlert Institute for Addiction Medicine—a Center created to advance addiction research and education. Dr. Kattakuzhy is board-certified in Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine, an addiction provider in rural Maryland, and an expert on infectious complications of substance use.
Dr. Jessica Magidson is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Maryland and Director of the Center for Substance Use, Addiction & Health Research (CESAR), which has a 30+ year history of research on substance use and community dissemination of research findings. Dr. Magidson is a clinical psychologist, with a focus on adapting behavioral interventions for peer delivery to extend the reach of addiction treatment in underserved communities around the world.
