ARTEMIS is a partnership between the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the Center for Substance Use, Addiction & Health Research (CESAR). This initiative uses patient feedback to guide research and improve substance use care in rural Maryland.
ARTEMIS is an innovative, multidisciplinary collaboration amongst researchers, practitioners, and people with lived experience to improve the quality of and access to substance use disorder care in rural settings.
The ARTEMIS project includes community partners, academics, clinicians, peer advisory groups, public health entities, and others. Through ARTEMIS, 15 rural people with lived or living experience of polysubstance use form a Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) that will serve as longitudinal advisors for the duration of the project. The PAC will be supported by another team of advisors, the ARTEMIS Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC). Together we are fostering shared learning opportunities and collaboration on research. Other novel opportunities for sharing information and perspectives include a consultation model for reviewing research and a discussion hub.
