Do you live in rural Maryland, have personal experiences with drug use in your community, and want better care?
Do you want to have a stronger voice in pathways to recovery?
If your answer is YES! We'd like your feedback.
ARTEMIS is a new project of the University of Maryland CESAR and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We want to use patient feedback to guide research and improve substance use care in rural Maryland.
Like other rural areas across the US, people living in rural Maryland counties have a hard time finding treatment and recovery services. There are also fewer harm reduction support programs in rural areas. Care is especially difficult for people who use (intentionally or unintentionally) multiple drugs (polysubstance use).
The ARTEMIS Team is forming a Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) to bring together 15 rural Marylanders with lived or living experience of polysubstance use. The PAC will meet every 1-3 months to talk about substance use care and research, including ways to better serve people who use drugs. All meetings will be held online, and there will be other options as needed for members. Meetings will be about 60-90 minutes long, and compensation will be provided for your time.
Each person will agree to attend at least 75% of meetings, provide open and honest input during the meetings, commit to confidentiality, and fill out surveys about their experience as PAC members.
